Hill Walking Courses

Complete Mountaineering offers the following hill walking courses:

Hill walking taster day:
A chance to give hill walking a try in either the Lake District or the Cheviots, covering some of the essential considerations when out in hills such as navigation, weather and route planning. This is a 6 hour session (approximately), costing £139 for up to 4 people.

Learn to Navigate:
Covers the essentials of navigation including: the use of different maps, navigating using large and small scale features, using a compass and more advanced techniques. This is a 6 hour session (approximately), costing £139 for up to 4 people.

Expedition hill walking:
A two day (one night camping) course covering aspects of navigation, weather, route planning and camp craft in either the Lake District or the Cheviots. The two days walking will be approximately 6 hours and the evening spent in a remote wild camp, costing £279 for up to 4 people.

Expedition hill walking (including night navigation):
As above with the standard expedition hill walking course , but with the addition of a 3 hour night navigation session in the evening, costing £299 for up to 4 people.

Trekking with a group on the Tour of Mont Blanc

Complete Mountaineering offers rock climbing and hill walking courses in Northumberland and the Lake District. In addition to these courses Complete Mountaineering also provides additional online resources such as a weather page and a blog featuring days out. The aim of Complete Mountaineering is to help people gain even more enjoyment from their activities, either through instructional courses or with the additional online resources. Complete Mountaineering is run by Tom Hopper:

“I am a keen hill walker, mountaineer, skier and climber. In pursuit of these activities I have travelled throughout Britain, as well as further a field in places such as the Alps, the Andes, South-East Asia and East Africa. I hold both the Summer Mountain Leader Award (ML) and Single Pitch Award (SPA). I am currently working towards the Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA) and Winter Mountain Leader Award (WML). I am also a degree graduate, with a BSc (Hons) in Geography & Sport.”
